Becoming a dentist is no easy feat; it requires immense dedication as well as an unwavering commitment to life-long learning. The first step? Earning an undergraduate degree and being accepted to an accredited dental school in the US. Then, they must complete 3+ years of in-classroom and hands-on training to obtain their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree. Even after over seven years of college, their training is not over. In order to maintain their license, they must complete continuing education hours each year. Dr. Holcomb, for example, completes over 100 CE hours per year!
