FAQ
What are the benefits to the practice of yoga, specifically moving classes (Gentle Yoga, Foundations of Flow, Rejuvenate, Flow)?
There are benefits to every style of yoga out there, but for the active ones:
What are the benefits to the restorative resting classes (Restore)?
Soothes the nervous system, allowing for relief from anxiety and tension Allows for the body and mind to normalize and re-center Cultivates an increased body awareness Enhance flexibility Healing from both physical and emotional trauma
Do you offer both heated and non-heated classes?
We have two studios at our location. Our Tapas (heat) Studio is heated via infrared panels, and our Moksha (freedom) studio is held at a comfortable room temperature. Various class styles are held in both studios in order to provide options for all yogis!
Why the heat?
As the body is heated both externally and internally, many benefits are received. These include but are not limited to:
What if I feel out of shape and not flexible?
Great news! You do not need to be in shape or flexible to benefit from the practice of yoga. Yoga is for EVERYbody at any stage in the game. By practicing regularly you will notice your physical health improve as well as your flexibility. Touching your toes is NOT a prerequisite to yoga. We promise.
What class should I take?
At yoga V there’s a class for everyone! Check out our classes and find out which one is right for you!
How often should I practice to get the best results?
This is a tough one to answer as everyone is different, but as with anything, consistency and dedication make all the difference. It all depends on what you are looking for as an individual. Any time you practice yoga you are giving your body a gift. Two to three times a week will provide you with a transformation over time. However, for life changing results, it is recommended to practice four to six times a week on a consistent basis.
Should I practice if I’m pregnant?
It is not recommended that students start a heated yoga practice while pregnant. However, generally speaking, yoga can be very safe and beneficial for expecting mamas. Each student is encouraged to listen to her own body throughout her pregnancy. Individual limitations should always be respected. In addition, we periodically offer specialized Prenatal Yoga. In all instances, yoga should not be practiced without the consent of a doctor.
What do I need to bring to practice?
Mat: Students are encouraged to buy their own mat once they have decided to practice on a regular basis. A good mat is key! Manduka and Liforme mats can be purchased at the studio. Mats can also be rented for $4. Water: Each student should bring a large water bottle to class and take advantage of our hydration station to keep it full. Students lose a significant amount of liquid during practice, therefore, it is encouraged to hydrate throughout the day before and after practice. The more hydrated your body is, the better your practice will be! Hint: Adding ice to your water will counter-effect the heat, so keep your water room temp! IF HEATED CLASS: Large Towel(s): As our bodies heat up and we begin to sweat, our mats quickly become very slippery. To prevent slipping, each student should bring a towel to put over his/her mat and a face towel. A commonly used product used at yoga V is a flat towel called a yogitoe . Yogitoes can be rented for $5. We also sell mat and face yogitoes. These are super helpful in keeping you in place!
Can I just drop in?
Absolutely! We open our doors about 15 minutes before class. Just show up and we’ll get you set up! However, some classes do fill with reservations, so to assure your spot, register ahead of time.
Can I reserve a spot online?
Yes. You can create an account, register for a class, sign our waiver and buy classes. Download app here.
What should I wear?
Women: Fitted sports pants and or athletic shorts with a fit tank top and/or sports bra/athletic bra.
