FAQ

can i bring my dog?
yes! dogs (and all other furry monsters) are allowed in the yurt and on the patio. bring them! everyone knows dogs get the best service. they must stay on their leashes, tho
is the yurt heated/cooled?
yes! the yurt has central heating and AC
is the yurt always open?
often, but not always. it depends on the day of the week, the season, the weather, and what the patio is doing and if you made a reservation for the yurt, but for some reason it’s not open, that means we have something better in store
is the patio open today?
if you want to sit outside on the patio, the patio is open
is the bar open seating?
yep! always and forever!
who chooses the music?
we all do, but if James is working, he chooses the music
does shuga's take call-aheads?
we take walk-ins and reservations only, we can’t take call-aheads
are there TVs in Shuga's?
Shuga’s is an Information-Free Zone (n.): A deliberately cultivated environment designed to provide temporary relief from the constant influx of data, opinions, alerts, advertisements, and digital noise. So… no, thanks.
does shuga's have gluten-free options?
a few, not millions; we identify as a bread-lover’s destination. also, some of our sandwiches make great salads. sadly, we have never found that perfect gluten-free bread that we’re willing to stand behind, so we do not carry gluten-free bread allergies beware: gluten is in the air! we’ll do our best but our kitchen is tiny, busy, and chock full of bread so we can’t make any guarantees.
can i bring my own cake?
yes, and we are ☻ to provide plates, forks, and a knife to cut it with. we do charge a $15 cake-cutting fee
and while we're talking about cakes, do you do anything special for birthdays?
we love to celebrate special occasions! but if a choreographed song and dance performed by us is what you’re in the mood for, we recommend a corporate chain restaurant run by uniformed servers forced to dance and clap and sing off-key. we prefer you channel your inner Aretha Franklin and perform your own musical numbers. we do have candles tho!
can i bring my kids?
yes, and there’s some things parents should know: • our space, energy, and menu are all tailored to the adult experience; it can be lively and loud, and space is tight. even so, we don’t impose an age restriction, and kids who are comfortable in a busy, bar-forward environment are welcome. • our menu leans adventurous so it helps if kids have an adventurous palate to match. • keep a close eye on the little ones. shuga’s isn’t a playplace and we’d love it if kids stayed seated alongside their respective grown-ups. • finding space for a stroller inside shuga’s can feel like docking a yacht in a bathtub. • we have one high chair available on a first-come, first-served basis.
