FAQ
Is there always music? Is it always jazz? What if I just don’t “get” jazz?
Nocturne is open for service weekly, Wednesday through Sunday and there is live music on our stage each night we are open. Sets run from 6:30pm to 7:45pm and 8:30pm to 9:45pm on weeknights and Sundays. Friday/Saturday sets run from 6:30-7:45pm and 9:00-10:30pm. Occasionally we feature national artists, special menu events, private parties, and holidays that can change our standard set times, so it’s always best to check our live music calendar when making your reservations.
Do you allow children?
When we designed Nocturne, we envisioned what it meant to have a great night out, and thus our space and hospitality is for adults 21 and older. We recalled our parents and grandparents getting dressed up to go to a nice dinner and a show - the kids stayed home so that they could enjoy a night of elegance, respite, and enjoyment. Many of our guests tell us that we are their date night spot; their go-to place when they opt to get a sitter or treat themselves to a night on the town. Other children (though not your children, we’re sure) can sometimes be a distraction to that experience. The music is loud at times, the environment and ambiance adult, and the food while delicious, is decidedly not kid-friendly.
Is there a dress code?
Unofficially, we suggest that you dress more toward the upscale side of casual. Sure, we’re still in Colorado and jeans are always welcome, but if you are looking for an excuse to get gussied up, you won’t be out of place here. Officially, we don’t allow cut-offs, tank tops, jerseys, inappropriate costumes, or clothing with profanity and/or offensive images. Shirts and shoes are required per health regulations.
I received a gift card. How can I use it?
Please call us at 303-295-3333 so that we can personally assist you in applying a gift card toward a prepaid reservation. We sell our gift cards via Square, but make reservation via Tock and unfortunately the two technologies aren't currently compatible. If you wish to use your gift card for additional items while here, simply bring it with you and your server will apply it to your bill.
Is there a cover charge?
We don’t charge "cover" at the door. Instead, a fee for live music (which typically ranges from $28 - $38 per person) is added to your final check or is included in your prepaid dinner and a show reservation.
Can you accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and/or aversions?
Yes. Please let the host know when you receive your confirmation call or let your server know on arrival if you have any allergies or strong aversions. Our menu is adventurous and we would love for you to put your trust in our talented kitchen staff as you enjoy each dish as the chef created it. However, if it’s possible for us to modify a dish to accommodate you, we will. Please note that we have small kitchen and are unable to avoid all potential cross-contamination, especially for gluten. There are always vegetarian dishes on the menu and many of them are available as vegan dishes with a small modification, just ask your server.
How do I recommend a band/artist for you to consider in your lineup?
We are fortunate to have a world class jazz scene in Denver with so many great musicians to partner with and feature in our stage. If you have a favorite band or player that we haven’t hosted yet, we encourage you to submit examples of their work and contact information to This email address is being protected from spambots. How do I make a reservation using a gift card?
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to connect our gift cards with our reservation system, so we'll need to help you out with this one. Please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call us at 303-295-3333 and we'll be happy to assist in applying your gift card toward your reservation.
How do I make a reservation for my party that is bigger than 6 people?
Our maximum party size is 6 people. For larger events, see our private events link . Please do not make multiple reservations with the expectation that you will be seated together. It is most likely that you'll be seated in separate sections.
Do I need a ticket to get in?
Advance planning and reservations are highly recommended (especially on Friday and Saturday evenings). If you are making last minute plans, please call us at 303-295-3333 and we will check availability and do our best to accommodate your visit.
How long can I stay?
To accommodate high demand, we respectfully request that guests limit their visit to one set only at this time. If you would like to stay for both sets, please make a reservation for both sets. For example, you could reserve Dinner and a Show for the first set and a Bar Reservation for the second set so that when you are finished with dinner, you can retire to a bar seat for the late set. Much like a standard restaurant, we offer dinner reservations nightly for our floor seats. Reservation times are scheduled around the first and second sets of music. First Set reservations are available at 6:00, 6:15 and 6:30pm (with music starting at 6:30pm). Second Set reservations are typically available from 7:45p to 8:45p. On Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the second set of music starts at 8:30pm On Fridays and Saturdays, the second set of music starts at 9:00pm. Within 24 hours of seating your reservation is locked in - cancellations or change requests recieved inside 24 hours of seating will not be refunded, but can be transferred . We kindly ask that you let us know if you are running late so that we may plan accordingly and hold your table. We reserve the right to cancel or alter (without refund) any reservations arriving more than 20 minutes late. BAR SEATING: The majority of our bar/cocktail seats are reservation only, with a very small number of seats aside for walk-in guests on a first come, first serve basis. Bar and cocktail table seats offer great views of the stage and are a part of the dining room.
Are there tables that are quiet or away from the music if I’m just there for the food and drink?
Our intimate dining room and bar seats were designed with the intention that guests would be focused on the stage and engaged in the music. There is not a separate room away from the music and we encourage you to enjoy the live entertainment while you enjoy our award winning food and drink. While Nocturne is not a listening room, we do ask that all guests keep conversations at a reasonable/private volume so as to not negatively impact other guests and be respectful to the artists making music on stage.
