FAQ

What is a Moon Rabbit?
The Moon Rabbit comes from a folktale shared across many parts of Asia. In one version, a deity visits earth in disguise, asking animals for food. An otter brings fish, a monkey offers fruit, but a rabbit, having only grass, offers himself instead. Moved by this act of humility and sacrifice, the deity brings the rabbit to the moon, where he lives on as a companion to the moon goddess, often depicted preparing the elixir of life with a mortar and pestle. You can still see its silhouette in the moon… if you know where to look.
Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends and for special events. You can book directly through the OpenTable reservation page .
Do you accept walk-ins?
We put all of our dining room tables online via OpenTable, but we always keep seats open at the bar for walk-ins. Full dinner service is available there every night.
Are you kid-friendly?
Yes! We’re happy to welcome guests of all ages, and you might notice some of our owner’s son’s artwork on the walls! We just ask that younger diners are comfortable in a lively dining room setting.
Where are you located and how should I get there?
We’re located at 927 F St NW in downtown Washington, DC. There are several nearby garages within walking distance. We recommend the one on 10th St NW next to Ford’s Theatre, directly across the street from us. Limited street parking may also be available. We’re also a short walk from Metro Center and Gallery Place-Chinatown. Rideshare is often the easiest option during peak hours.
How does ordering work?
We offer both à la carte and tasting menu options—no need to decide ahead of time. Our menu is designed for sharing, and ordering a few dishes per person is the best way to enjoy it.  Check out our menu .
What’s the largest party you can accommodate in the dining room?
We can seat up to 8 guests at one table in our dining room. For larger groups, please visit our Private Events page .
What should I wear?
Come as you are comfortable! Most guests opt for smart casual or cocktail attire. Some dress up for a night out, some don’t.
Can you accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions?
We can usually work around most allergies and dietary restrictions with advance notice, but please note that we are unable to accommodate allium or nightshade allergies. Because of how our menu is built, certain allergies may change the scope of your experience. The more we know (and the earlier we know it), the better we can do.
Is there a service fee?
A 20% service fee is added to your bill, of which 100% is distributed to our non-management front of house team as wages and benefits. We also include an optional tip line should you wish to recognize exceptional hospitality.
Do you allow corkage?
Yes, $45 per bottle with a two 750mL (or one 1500mL) per table limit.
Can I make special requests for my reservation?
Absolutely, we’ll always do our best to accommodate celebrations and special requests. Please include details when booking or reach out to our team in advance.
