FAQ

What are T1 Braces®?
T1 Braces were designed by our founder, Dr. James TenBrook , while studying at Harvard University. Our patented T1 Braces were developed based on significant bone physiology and tooth movement principles.
How long has your T1 Braces technology been around?
Our T1 Braces technology was patented in 2008. Over 25,000 patients have been treated with T1 Braces since then. T1 Braces have been sold all over the world, including in Mexico, Poland, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Brazil, India, and Australia.
Why were T1 Braces designed?
Dr. TenBrook developed the TenBrook T1 Self-ligating System to improve the patient experience. The T1 bracket is designed to reduce friction and optimize archwire performance. Using T1, we can now move teeth with about 1/4 of the force of traditional braces, which research shows is healthier for tooth movement.
Where are T1 Braces made?
T1 braces are made from the highest quality materials in the USA. We are quality-driven and proud to support American manufacturing. TenBrook Braces use the most advanced technology including Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) archwires.
How fast does it take to see changes with T1 Braces?
The T1 system optimally stimulates tooth movement with low force and low friction. Patients have reported seeing results within 1-2 days, according to Dr. TenBrook. No other orthodontic technology can move teeth faster or more gently.
How do teeth move with T1 Braces?
Our patented T1 brackets and light wires guide your teeth into their ideal position and create your mouth's perfect arch. Your lips, cheeks, and tongue are guided to the ideal form for a fantastic smile. A perfect look is balanced for your face and no one else's. It is customized, it's your smile, and it's you. TenBrook helps you to get your best smile.
Will braces make my face look different?
Braces can change the appearance of your face. Therefore, it's crucial is that your doctor diagnoses your situation correctly. A diagnosis should include tooth size and crowding, and whether or not to extract your teeth. These decisions will ultimately forecast how your teeth align in your smile arch on your face, which will affect facial proportions and lip support.
Can braces improve my jawline?
Through a proper diagnosis and our T1 self-ligating braces, our orthodontists can enhance your facial features, including lip support and jawline.
What benefits do traditional metal braces offer over newer treatments, and what are their drawbacks?
Metal braces with "tie wings" are quickly becoming obsolete. Drawbacks include longer treatment times and higher forces on the teeth, which can be painful. With newer treatment technologies, like self-ligating braces, the orthodontist can move teeth with less force, which is healthier and leads to faster tooth movement.
Are metal braces still popular, or are self-litigating, clear ceramic, and Invisalign treatments taking a bite out of them?
Metal Braces are still very popular, but esthetic braces and similar systems are catching on. These options are more popular with adults who want a less visible option. Self-ligation technology is the wave of the future for tooth movement, due to the low forces and faster tooth movement. Like T1 Braces, self-ligating braces often cut treatment times in half, allowing the orthodontist to create that beautiful smile in less time.
Am I too old for braces?
Orthodontics today is more health-related than age-related. Some people think they may be too old to fix their smiles. However, we have treated patients as old as 84 and 91 years old, who had excellent home care and achieved their goals of a beautiful smile.
Do you find that different age groups choose specific treatment types?
Most kids love colors! Many of our adolescents opt for vibrant pinks and coral blues for our Candy Braces to show off their grins! It's somewhat of a status symbol to have braces and show them off at school! Many adult patients seek out more cosmetic alternatives, like our nearly invisible T-Clear Minis and Invisalign aligners.
