How to calculate it

Worker-hours = carpet area ÷ cleaning pace + setup hours × workers. Price = total job cost ÷ (1 − margin ÷ 100 − fee ÷ 100)

A worked example

Cleaning 1,000 square feet at an illustrative pace of 500 square feet per worker-hour takes two worker-hours. Add half an hour of setup for one worker at $25 and $45 in other job costs. A $107.50 cost at a 25% margin and 3% payment fee needs a $149.31 price, about $0.15 per square foot.

Use cleanable carpet area

The floor plan of a home includes rooms and surfaces you may not clean. Measure the carpet included in the quote and agree how to handle furniture. If you charge by the room, divide the final quote by the included rooms only after checking their actual size and scope.

Estimate treatment time from the job condition

Heavy soil, spot treatment, stairs, upholstery, and furniture moving can change both labor and supplies. Include time in your pace or calculate the extra work separately. A square-foot estimate alone does not distinguish a routine clean from a job with substantial preparation.

Allocate equipment and trip costs

Loading, unloading, connecting equipment, and cleanup still happen on a small job. Include them in setup, and put fuel and paid travel time under travel. Add rental, maintenance, or equipment replacement costs to overhead in proportion to the work rather than charging every job for the whole purchase.

Carpet cleaning pricing questions

How do I calculate carpet cleaning cost per square foot?
Estimate labor from cleanable area and your cleaning pace, add setup and other costs, then account for profit and payment fees. Divide the resulting job quote by cleanable square footage. The tool shows that rate alongside the total.
Can I use this for per-room carpet cleaning quotes?
Yes. Estimate the total area and time for the rooms included, then use the resulting job price. Room sizes differ, so a flat price per room should have a clear size limit and a defined scope.
Are stain treatment and furniture moving included?
Only when you include their time and materials in your inputs. Add them to your pace and supplies, or calculate a separate add-on. Example inputs are illustrations and do not represent a standard treatment allowance.
